A hearing impairment is when the ability to apprehend sound is affected.

Signs of hearing loss may include:

  • difficulty hearing people clearly and misunderstanding what they say - especially in noisy places
  • asking people to repeat what they've said
  • listening  to the TV or music at a high volume
  • difficulty hearing when talking to someone on the phone
  • finding it hard to keep up with a conversation
  • feeling tired or stressed for having to concentrate while listening
