Informal advocacy is where you choose to have an advocate to support you.
If you find it difficult to understand procedures or decisions then an advocate may be able to help. An advocate would help represent your views to the decision-makers.
If you choose this particular form of advocacy the service provider will work with you and your advocate.
Informal advocacy for people with Learning Disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Disorders or Mental Health needs is provided by Wakefield Advocacy Together Hub who has a contract in Wakefield. Other organisations across the district also provide informal advocacy and can be found by searching the Connect2Support website.
