Support for Carers

Caring for someone can be tiring, demanding and stressful. It is important that carers take care of their own health and wellbeing.

You can ask your doctor to register you as a carer so you can access support services.

Carers Wakefield and District offer free information and support to unpaid and young carers. They can support carers by:

  • Listening and supporting you to navigate the health and social care system.
  • Put you in touch with individuals or organisation that can help.
  • Arrange for you to meet with other carers.
  • Help you recognise and realise your own needs.
  • Offer you tips and training that can help you in your caring role.
  • Promote carers’ rights.

Carers Wakefield and District develop a newsletter for carers, you can read the Summer 2024 newsletter here. For more information, you can contact 01924 305 544 or info@carerswakefield.org.uk

Carers Audio resources

Carers UK has launched a new audio resource service. It is aimed at older carers who do not use the internet to search for information. This is pre-recorded free telephone service containing audio resources on a range of topics that carers may find helpful. There are three audio resource segments, containing different information on topics. These topics include help with finances, support with getting a break from caring, and tips to help improve wellbeing.
