Hear for You
Prosper House, Upper Warrengate, Wakefield, WF1 4JZDescription
Open 7 days a week, 365 days a year 6pm to Midnight.
Wakefield Safe Space is a non-clinical service that is available on evenings and weekends for people aged 16+ who feel they are in crisis or need to talk to somebody about their mental health, without needing to go to A&E, emergency services or other crisis services.
Our team all have lived experience and are trained to support people who are struggling with a wide variety of issues. We do not provide clinical therapies, counselling, or advice on medications and diagnosis. Instead, we provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where you can come to talk about what is on your mind, try distraction and coping techniques, and be provided with refreshments.
We are open to anybody aged 16 or over in the Wakefield District and 5 Towns.
We can support with:
- Stress and Anxiety
- Low mood
- Depression
- Social isolation and loneliness
- Thoughts of self-harm
- Thoughts of suicide
- Thoughts of relapse
- Feeling like you are struggling to cope.
We cannot support you if you need medical attention, are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or do not engage with us when you call to ask for support, and we try to assess your risk.
Our service known as "Wakefield Safe Space" is changing in 2024 to Hear For You, alongside our other West Yorkshire Crisis Cafes across West Yorkshire.
