Shared Lives
Description
Shared Lives is a care and support service which is for people aged
17+ who want to live independently in their community, with the
support of a Shared Lives Carer.
It is a bespoke service which is an alternative to supported living or
residential care.
Shared Lives care is based on shared interests, lifestyles and sense of
humour.
It’s a bit like fostering - for adults. It involves supporting someone to live an
ordinary life and can often mean it doesn’t really feel like a ‘job’ for you!
The needs of people in the service can differ and can include:
• People with dementia
• Mental health difficulties
• Older people
• Learning disability
• Physical disability
It’s a rewarding choice as whilst you’ll be making a difference to someone
else’s life as a Shared Lives Carer, it will also bring so much to your life too.
