Open Country

Thornes Park Nursery Office, Thornes Road, WF28QE

Description

Open Country is the Yorkshire charity that were set up over 30 years ago to ensure anyone with a disability or mental health condition can access and enjoy the countryside.

We have a base down at Thornes Park in Wakefield and from there we run several day services throughout the week - Nature Force Group, Walking Group, Wild Things Group and Trailblazer Group aimed at adults with learning disabilities and autism.

We also run a suite of outings and adventure sports on weekends for those with physical disabilities and sight impairments.

Lastly, we run an adapted cycling club between April - November on Wednesday evenings with a range of different bikes including tandems, trikes and whelchair bikes, to ensure everybody can enjoy the countryside.

We have some great support from 40+ trained volunteers, two fully accessible minibuses and a range of equipment to use across our activities.
