Flood Detectors

A flood detector is a wireless, indoor sensor which gives an early warning of potential flooding in the home. This sensor is usually mounted on the skirting board close to a sink or bath and when it detects water on the floor it can either alert a carer or a 24-hour response sensor. These sensors can be obtained as part of a Telecare package or privately.

Benefits:

  • Helps to protect the user’s property and provides reassurance to care givers by connecting to a monitored contact centre.
  • The contact centre will follow an agreed plan and alert contacts so a carer or nominated person can be notified.
  • Needs to detect a significant amount of water to trigger an alert.

Things to consider:

  • Depending on the layout and size of your bathroom multiple units may be required.
