Walking Frames
Standard walking frames are a height adjustable walking frame with handgrips. They are appropriate for people who need more support than a stick or a crutch.
Things to Consider:
- Never use a walking frame to hold onto whilst standing from a toilet, as it is not designed for this purpose and could easily tip over.
- Make sure your frame is the correct height for you
- Think about if you only want to use your frame indoors. A walking frames with 2 wheels is better for use indoors, this helps people who can’t lift the frame as they can just push it along.
- Are you strong enough to lift your frame without wheels? Frames without wheels are better for people who can only weight bear on one leg (e.g. if they have fractures of the leg or ankle) as this offers more support.
- If you want to use a frame to get out and about (frames with wheels are better for outdoor use). Consider a rollator with either 3 wheels or 4 wheels.
- Do you need a seat, basket or tray attached?
- Do you need to fold it away to get it into a car?
